Immediate Implant Questions, Answered
Not sure if you qualify? Take the 60-second quiz, or browse the most common questions below.
- Does getting an immediate implant hurt?
For most patients, recovery is surprisingly mild — often easier than a simple extraction, because the implant helps stabilize the site. Over-the-counter ibuprofen for a day or two is usually all that's needed, and sedation is available if you'd like to be more relaxed.
- How long do dental implants last?
Dental implants have some of the highest long-term success rates in dentistry — over 95% at ten years when properly placed and maintained. With good care the implant itself can last a lifetime; the crown may need replacing after 10–15 years of normal wear.
- How much do implants cost, and do you offer financing?
Every case is different, so we give you a clear, written treatment plan at your consultation — no surprises. We offer flexible payment options, and many insurance plans and the Canadian Dental Care Plan cover part of implant treatment.
- Single tooth or full arch?
We do both — from a single immediate implant to a full arch of fixed teeth with All-on-4, often placed in a single day.
- What if I'm not a candidate for an immediate implant?
That's exactly what the free consultation and 3D scan are for. If a staged approach or bone grafting first is safer, we'll show you why on your scan and walk through every option — including other tooth-replacement choices.
What Are Immediate Dental Implants?
A traditional implant is done in stages: extract the tooth, wait months for the socket to heal, place the implant in a separate surgery, then heal again before the final crown — often 9 to 12 months start to finish.
An immediate implant skips the long wait. We remove the failing tooth and place the titanium implant into the fresh socket in the same visit. When the tooth and bone allow it, you can even leave with a temporary tooth that day.
Every case is planned digitally with a 3D CBCT scan before we begin, so placement is precise and predictable.
Why Patients Choose Immediate Implants
- One surgery instead of two — a single numbing, a single recovery.
- Months faster — often 3–4 months total instead of 9–12.
- Same-day temporary teeth in many front-tooth cases.
- Better bone & gum preservation — keeps the natural shape of your jaw and gums.
- Less trauma overall — one site heals one time.
Are You a Candidate for Immediate Implants?
Immediate implants aren't right for every situation — and we'll always tell you honestly. You're often a strong candidate if:
- Your tooth is failing but the surrounding bone is still intact
- There's no active, aggressive infection
- There's enough bone to hold the implant securely on day one
- You're generally healthy and not a heavy smoker
A Staged Approach May Be Better If…
- The tooth has been missing a long time and significant bone has been lost
- Severe gum disease has damaged the surrounding bone
- The site sits very close to a nerve or sinus
The only way to know for sure is a quick 3D CBCT scan and consultation — included free when you book.
Your Immediate Implant Journey
Step 1 — Consultation & 3D scan. We take a CBCT scan (about 20 seconds, very low radiation), review your anatomy with you on-screen, confirm whether you're a candidate, and give you a clear plan and timeline. No pressure.
Step 2 — Implant day. We gently remove the failing tooth, preserving as much bone as possible, and place the implant — usually the same appointment. Where the case allows, we add a temporary tooth. Sedation options are available.
Step 3 — Healing (3–4 months). The implant fuses to your bone while you go about your life. Most patients find recovery easier than the extraction alone.
Step 4 — Your final crown. Once healed, we use our Primescan scanner and in-house CEREC system to craft a permanent crown that looks and works like a natural tooth.
3D-Guided Precision
Every implant is planned on a CBCT 3D scan before we begin — accurate, safe, predictable.
Same-Day Smile, In-House
In-house CEREC milling and a SprintRay 3D printer mean same-day temporaries and fewer visits — all under one roof.
