Family Dentist in Maple Ridge
One practice for everyone in the house — from a toddler's first visit through to a grandparent's dentures. Same office, same records, same team who already know your family's history.
Kanaka Creek Family Dental has three dentists on staff: Dr. Navjot Dhillon, DDS, Dr. Sabrina Bhatti, DDS and Dr. Rabia Gill, DMD. That means we can usually see several family members in the same visit block, and there's cover when someone needs to be seen quickly.
Being a general family practice also means we handle almost everything in-house — cleanings, fillings, orthodontics, root canals, wisdom teeth, implants and dentures. Fewer referrals elsewhere, fewer days off work and school.

Family Dentistry FAQs
- Can we all be seen on the same day?
Usually, yes — that's one of the practical advantages of having three dentists. Tell us when you book that you'd like appointments together and we'll block the time. It's far easier than four separate trips.
- When should my child first see a dentist?
By their first birthday, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. The first visits are mostly about familiarity rather than treatment — we want the dentist to be an unremarkable place before anything ever needs doing. See children's dentistry.
- Do you have appointments outside work and school hours?
Yes. We open at 6:30am on Wednesdays, run until 7pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and we're open Saturdays until 2pm. Early and Saturday slots are the ones families book first, so ask about them when you call.
- Do you take our insurance? What about the CDCP?
We direct bill most insurance providers, and we accept patients on the Canadian Dental Care Plan and bill Sun Life directly — so you don't pay the covered portion up front. We also follow the BC Dental Fee Guide and don't charge above it. See our guide to CDCP coverage.
- What if my child — or I — am nervous about the dentist?
Very common, and nothing to apologise for. We go at your pace, explain before we do anything, and offer sedation options where they're appropriate. Dental anxiety is usually learned from a bad experience, and it can be unlearned.
- What happens if someone has a dental emergency?
Call us. We keep time available for emergencies and we prioritise existing patients. Knocked-out teeth, bad swelling and severe pain are same-day situations — don't wait it out.
Care at Every Age
Babies and toddlers
First visit by age one. Short, gentle, mostly a look and a chat about brushing, bottles and diet.
Children
Cleanings, sealants on the deep grooves of new molars, fluoride, and watching how the adult teeth and jaws are coming in.
Teens
The orthodontic years — clear aligners, palatal expansion where the arch is narrow, sports mouth guards, and eventually wisdom teeth.
Adults
Regular cleanings and checkups, fillings, same-day crowns, cosmetic work, and night guards for grinding.
Older adults
Gum disease management, dentures, implants and dry-mouth care, which becomes common with age and medication.
What Actually Makes a Practice Family-Friendly
- Hours that fit around school and work. A 6:30am Wednesday start or a Saturday morning means nobody misses a day.
- Enough dentists to see you together. Three on staff, so back-to-back family appointments are realistic rather than theoretical.
- Most treatment under one roof. Fewer referrals to other offices across town.
- Continuity. We keep the whole family's history in one place, which matters for things that run in families — crowding, grinding, gum disease.
- Straight answers on cost. BC Fee Guide pricing, direct billing, and a written fee before treatment starts.
- Patience with nervous patients, young or old. See how we approach patient comfort.
We're accepting new patients and we stand behind our work — see our treatment guarantee.

Starting Kids Off Right
First visits are short and low-pressure. The goal is a child who isn't frightened of the dentist at 30, not a perfect cleaning at three.
