Tooth Replacements

Bridges, Dentures & Tooth Replacement in Maple Ridge

At Kanaka Creek Family Dental, we understand that missing teeth affect more than your smile — they impact your confidence, your ability to eat comfortably, and your long-term oral health.

When teeth are lost to decay, injury, or gum disease, the remaining teeth can shift out of alignment, bone loss can accelerate, and your facial structure may change over time. Replacing missing teeth promptly helps prevent these complications and restores full function to your bite.

We offer a full range of tooth replacement options including dental bridges, partial and full dentures, and dental implants. Using advanced digital technology including CEREC Primescan and our in-house PrimeMill, we can design and fabricate precise, natural-looking restorations — often in a single visit with our same-day crown technology.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a bridge and a denture?

A dental bridge is a fixed restoration anchored to adjacent teeth that replaces one or a few missing teeth. Dentures are removable appliances that replace several or all teeth. Bridges feel more like natural teeth since they are permanently cemented in place.

  • How long do dental bridges last?

With proper care, dental bridges typically last 10 to 15 years or longer. Good oral hygiene, regular checkups, and avoiding hard or sticky foods help extend their lifespan. Our CEREC-milled bridges are crafted from high-strength ceramic for excellent durability.

  • Are dental implants better than bridges?

Implants preserve bone and do not require altering adjacent teeth, making them the gold standard for single-tooth replacement. However, bridges are an excellent option when implants are not suitable, and they can be completed more quickly. We will help you choose the best option for your situation.

  • Can I eat normally with dentures?

Modern dentures are much more comfortable and functional than older designs. There is an adjustment period, but most patients return to eating a wide variety of foods. Implant-supported dentures offer even greater stability and chewing efficiency.

  • What happens if I do not replace a missing tooth?

Neighbouring teeth can drift into the gap, causing bite problems and increasing the risk of decay and gum disease. The jawbone beneath the missing tooth also begins to shrink, which can change your facial appearance over time.

What to Expect

Step 1: Consultation & Assessment
We examine your mouth, review digital X-rays, and discuss your goals. Together we determine whether a bridge, denture, or implant is the best fit for your needs and budget.

Step 2: Treatment Planning
Using our Primescan digital scanner, we capture precise 3D impressions of your teeth — no messy putty required. This data is used to design your custom restoration for a perfect fit.

Step 3: Fabrication & Fitting
For bridges, our PrimeMill can mill ceramic restorations in-house, often allowing same-day placement. Dentures are custom-fabricated and fitted with multiple try-in appointments to ensure comfort and aesthetics.

Step 4: Follow-Up Care
We schedule follow-up visits to check your bite, make adjustments, and ensure your restoration feels natural. Ongoing preventive care helps protect your investment for years to come.

Benefits of Tooth Replacement

  • Restore Your Smile — Fill gaps with natural-looking restorations that blend seamlessly with your remaining teeth.
  • Eat With Confidence — Chew all your favourite foods without discomfort or embarrassment.
  • Prevent Bone Loss — Replacing missing teeth, especially with implants, helps preserve jawbone density and facial structure.
  • Protect Remaining Teeth — Prevent neighbouring teeth from shifting, reducing the risk of decay, bite problems, and further tooth loss.
  • Same-Day Options — With our CEREC same-day technology, many bridge restorations can be completed in a single appointment.

Dental Implants

The gold standard for tooth replacement. Implants are titanium posts surgically placed in the jawbone that function as artificial tooth roots, supporting crowns, bridges, or dentures with unmatched stability.
